Robert Furbank
Bob Furbank is currently a Professor in Plant Science at the Australian National University. He has 40 years of experience in “integrative plant biology”, focusing on improving photosynthesis and carbon partitioning across scales in crops from molecular / synthetic biology to field phenotyping and phenome / genome biology.
He previously led the High Resolution Plant Phenomics Centre while at CSIRO, the ARC Centre of Excellence for Translational Photosynthesis while at ANU and his research program is now focused on crop photosynthetic improvement.
He leads the Australian node of the C4 Rice Project, has led International Wheat Yield Partnership projects, delivered synbio approaches to improving C4 photosynthesis and partners with breeding companies to introduce superior photosynthetic traits in wheat and canola.
